Hello, I’m helen

I’m an experienced integrative counsellor and psychotherapist based in Tooting, South London. My path into therapy wasn’t linear; it developed through significant life and career experiences that shaped how I connect with and support others.

Before training as a therapist, I spent 13 years in the corporate world, first in London and later in New York, as a partner at an international property and construction firm. While the work was dynamic and fast paced, it also brought me face to face with the challenges of burnout, identity confusion, and stress. These experiences sparked my interest in the emotional lives we often keep hidden beneath our roles and inspired my transition into therapeutic work.

I hold a Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), and I’m a registered BACP member. I work in an integrative way, meaning I can draw from a wide range of therapeutic modalities depending on what feels most supportive for you. While my foundation is in person-centred and psychodynamic therapy, I also incorporate techniques from approaches such as CBT, Gestalt, mindfulness, and inner child work. This flexibility allows me to tailor each session to your unique needs, offering a responsive and collaborative space for meaningful change. At the heart of my practice is a calm, compassionate, and non judgemental space where clients can feel heard and supported.

Becoming a mother deepened my understanding of the emotional complexities that often come with major life transitions. It also inspired a strong interest in perinatal and maternal mental health. I now hold an OCN Level 4 accreditation in Perinatal Mental Health and support clients experiencing postnatal depression, anxiety during pregnancy, birth trauma, identity shifts in motherhood, and the mental load of parenting.

In my work, I support people navigating a wide range of emotional and psychological challenges, including:

  • Anxiety and depression

  • Low self esteem and self doubt

  • Grief, loss and bereavement

  • Childhood trauma and attachment wounding

  • Relationship difficulties

  • Workplace stress and career transitions

  • Perinatal and reproductive mental health

  • Miscarriage, stillbirth and infant loss

I also worked as a counsellor in NHS Lambeth for almost two years, offering time limited therapy to a diverse range of clients. During this time, I developed specialist experience in supporting clients experiencing suicidal thoughts, self harm, complex trauma, and other high risk presentations. I am confident and experienced in safeguarding, and I can assess, support and signpost clients safely and ethically when needed.

In addition, I am a qualified life coach, with training accredited by NCFE and the ACCPH. While my current practice focuses on counselling, this background strengthens my ability to support clients navigating change, identity questions, and confidence issues.

I am also a certified Infant Loss Professional, trained through the Foundation for Infant Loss, and I offer sensitive, specialist support to individuals and couples coping with miscarriage, stillbirth or neonatal loss.

To support and safeguard the quality of my work, I meet regularly with an external clinical supervisor. Supervision is an essential part of ethical practice and helps ensure I’m offering clients the most thoughtful, safe and grounded support possible.

I also hold enhanced DBS clearance, along with professional liability, public and product insurance, to ensure the highest standards of care and protection for my clients.

Whether you're feeling overwhelmed, grieving, stuck, or simply seeking a deeper understanding of yourself, I offer a calm and supportive therapeutic space. I see clients both in person in Tooting and online across the UK.

If you’d like to explore working together, I offer a free 15-minute consultation where we can talk about what’s bringing you to therapy and whether it feels like the right fit.
