Single Session Therapy
Sometimes, one conversation can be enough to see things differently.
Single Session Therapy (SST) is exactly what it sounds like: a standalone therapy session designed to help you focus on one particular issue, question or challenge. Rather than committing to regular weekly therapy, you book a single session with the intention of making the most of our time together.
Whether you're facing a difficult decision, feeling stuck, navigating a life transition or simply need space to think something through, a focused therapeutic conversation can help you gain greater clarity, understanding and perspective.
There's no expectation to continue beyond the session. Many people find that one session gives them what they need, while others choose to return for another session at a later date or begin ongoing therapy. We'll simply respond to what feels most helpful for you.
When Can Single Session Therapy Be Helpful?
Single Session Therapy may be helpful if you're:
Feeling stuck with a particular issue or decision
Navigating a life transition or difficult conversation
Looking for clarity around a relationship or situation
Wanting space to reflect without committing to ongoing therapy
Curious about therapy but unsure where to begin
If you're looking to understand long-standing patterns, explore the impact of past experiences or work towards deeper, lasting change, ongoing therapy may be a better fit. Having regular sessions provides the time and continuity to explore these experiences at a pace that feels right for you.
What to Expect
Sessions are tailored to you. Together, we'll explore what's brought you to therapy, make sense of your thoughts and feelings, and work towards greater understanding and clarity.
My role isn't to give advice or quick answers, but to help you better understand yourself and discover what feels right for you.
If, during our conversation, it becomes clear that ongoing therapy would be helpful, we can discuss this together. Equally, you may leave feeling that a single session has been enough for now. There is never any expectation or pressure to continue, our focus is simply on finding the approach that feels right for you.
If you're unsure whether Single Session Therapy or ongoing therapy would be the best fit, I'd be happy to discuss the options with you during a free 15-minute consultation.
